To Catch You Up...

So it's been a while.
Nice to see you again.
Since you always learn better with pictures, here is a bullet list of things we've been up to for the past month and a half or so...

We sold our condo! Two sets of renters, a thorough cleaning job, and three weeks or so on the market and it is done. Good riddance to the Home Owner's Association.

Don't let this picture fool you. He's not ours (although we'd gladly take him) Welcome Ethan!

A trip to St. George. Yum.

Samantha & Jeff wedded.

We took the nieces and nephews (some of them, the ones that are fans, and would be old enough to remember such a venture) to the set of High School Musical 3. My cousin Trevor (thanks again, and again dude) works for the Utah Film Commission and was able to get us in to the filming of this highly kid-anticipated movie. We saw all of the major HSM stars. One of the most memorable lines from the evening was when Zac Efron happened to be about 3-4 feet away from us and you could see his boxers for a little bit. Megan, the youngest girl who isn't scared to say anything said "Shara I can see his underwear" loud enough for everyone to hear. And Haylee who is secretly infatuated with Zac whispers the same thing to me as her face goes beet red.

The other classic line was Adam asking for a cheeseburger most of the night. Honestly I would probably be asking for the same thing at his age.

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Go see WALL•E™

So long...

The Jazz and I broke up on Friday night. It was abrupt, and unexpected. I wasn't looking forward to it, but I guess it had to be. This whole season I have pretty much based my nights off of when a Jazz game was on. Every other night or so I had plans with the TV to watch the Jazz game. But now it is over. The good news is I think we will be getting back together in November.

The last couple seasons I have found a renewed faith in the Utah Jazz. The beginning of this decade was dismal, and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. The Jazz had some of their worst seasons ever, and weren't even playoff contenders. Throughout the decade and with draft picks and trades, the Jazz have become an incredible team to watch. The team they have right now is incredible. I couldn't say the same when Girichek was on the team, but ever since the Girichek/Korver trade, they have seen awesome success. Sadly that success ended it's run on Friday night, therefore ending my basketball season (somewhat). I'll still watch, and hope for a Lakers-Celtics series, but any emotion I had invested in the playoffs is gone. It was a great season for me. I watched many games at my parents house, with my father-in-law, with my friends, with Shara, or even by myself standing up and throwing things at the T.V. I was able to go to 4 games this season, with my brother-in-law, Shara, my mom and my father-in-law, many more games than I had previously anticipated. (Thanks again to anyone who hooked me up with tickets! Pretty much that goes to Meridian and Shara) It was a good season, but I'm really bummed its over.

My Top 5

So this last weekend Shara and I saw Iron Man. Which made Shara fall in love with Robert Downey Jr. and on the way home started a discussion on our "Top 5" list . So we decided to pick our 5 and post them to see what others think about our choices. This is a running top 5 that has changed about 12 times since Shara told me to post it, but I think I'll stick with this list for now. You can check out Shara's top gentlemen on her blog page here. And in case you are wondering, the answer is: YES. Shara knows that if any of these Top 5 ever showed up in my world, I would make-out with all of them. Shara understands. I would equally give her permission to make out with her top 5. Why not, life is short!

Behold the list...

1. Sophia Bush - I went for the surprise, I didn't think I would put her first, but I think I'm-a stick with it. She's really the only reason I watch One Tree Hill these days.

2. Jessica Alba - I'm willing to bet 95% of the American Male population would have Jessica in their top 5.

3. Scarlett Johansson - Not only is she gorgeous, but she is hilarious. If you've ever seen her on SNL, you'll agree. "Mawble Colmuns! Look at this one, Look at that one, Look at this one..."

4. Brittany Snow - After seeing John Tucker Must Die that pretty much sealed the deal.

5. Stacy Keibler - Shara even agrees with me that she's hot. Enough said.

So what do you think? Are we weird? Are we dumb? Did we get you thinking about this?
I think everyone secretly has a running list like this in their heads, but are too scared too admit it, let alone post it on a BLOG.

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE

Ween-O-Rama 10!!

Saturday May 10th was the 10th annual Ween-O-Rama. My buddies started doing this after we graduated high school to prolong the summer parties we had and was just another great excuse to get a big number of us together and roast hot dogs. It has since grown since it's humble beginnings to something looked forward to around this time of year and new traditions and events are held every year, while still holding true to the past events and traditions. This year introduced the hot dog eating contest, which no looking back on it, I don't know why we haven't done this sooner than now. Shara was asked to be a field reporter for this event and she was super great at it. She got all into it and asked the serious and awesome questions.

This is a great event that a lot of hard work is put into by my friends and it always turns out great and it's always good to see everyone that shows up.

Jazz v. Rockets Game 6

A couple of Friday's ago Shara ended up working for ESPN. It was an awesome opportunity for her and she was able to work closely with a producer and a reporter and get to see a lot of the behind the scenes of an ESPN broadcast. This also benefited ME! She was hooked up with two tickets to Game 6 versus Houston. It was an awesome game! My father-in-law Wayne went along with me. He was really excited, so excited that we ended up arriving at Energy Solutions Arena 75 minutes before tip-off! I have pictures to prove it. Shara was able to take me behind the scenes as well during half time, and we were able to see how ESPN broadcasts a game. It's incredible all the equipment and personnel that is involved to broadcast a nationally televised game. Very cool. Thanks again to her and to the ESPN producer who hooked us up with tickets!

Ben Folds

Wednesday night, Shara and I got to see Mr. Ben Folds at The Great Saltair. Shara had heard on the radio a couple of months ago that he was coming and immediately called me to buy tickets. Ben doesn't come to Utah very often, so when he does you have to jump on it. The venure wasn't my first of choices, but it was better than The McKay Events, The E Center or The Energy Solutions Arena. We arrived at approximately 5:45 (doors were supposed to be at 6:00) We didn't enter the building until 7:05. I was ANG-RY. We got to see my good friend Aubrey Sorensen in town from AZ. She is a huge Ben fan as well. When we finally got in there were 4 opening bands, 2 were even local. Chris Merit (thumbs up) Mesa Drive (thumbs down) Allred (thumbs up) and Ben Lee from Australia (two thumbs up). they were pretty short sets except for Ben Lee who has technical difficulties throughout most of his set, but he made it work with what he had. Ben folds finally came on and played an amazing set for almost 2 hours. Ben Folds has been an idol and inspiration to me ever since I decided to start playing piano again. His theory and style are his own, and he has some of the best music written in my lifetime. If it wasn't for Ben Folds I'm not sure Shara would have married me. His song "The Luckiest" was one that the first time I ever heard it, was one I knew I would know and play for my wife at our wedding. I practiced and practiced that song while Shara and I were dating, but it was the only song I wouldn't play her until the day of our wedding. That song solidified everything, and the best thing was he ended up playing that exact song solo with no band at this concert. He was incredible. I have a list of bands I have to see live before I die, and now I can check another one of those off. He is one of those rare bands that actually sound better live than on disc, and he is a great improvisationalist. I'm so glad that Shara and I got to see him. He also announced that his new album was finished, and probably should be released later this fall. So we're really looking forward to hearing that. He played some new stuff of of that album but mainly focused on his old stuff. I was impressed he played at least one song from every album and most of his EP's as well.
It's funny that every time I go to a concert and I stand in GA there is always a 5 foot nothing Asian girl behind me that can't see, and I feel bad for just a second. Then I look up and see that I'm one of about 5 people in the whole audience that has an unobstructed view of the show, and I don't feel so bad anymore. I am very grateful for the height gene. This was a great show, definitely in my top ten of all time.

Check out all pictures here.

Weezer (The Red Album)

"Weezer" (AKA Album #6, "The Red Album") is out on 6/24/08!
(This album cover cracks me up, I love that they are sticking with their standard form of album covers, it's great for continuity)

Jimmy Eat World/Paramore

Monday night Natalie and I went to the Jimmy Eat World/Paramore concert. "Two thumbs up, fine holiday fun!" We completely missed the first opening band Dear And The Headlight, we walked in during their last song. I never feel old until I go to concerts like this. Shows like this become a Mecca for 12 year-old emo punk girls and boys who each wear the same size in pants. Rosie and Josh hooked us up with tickets, thanks again! It was nice to just sit and actually watch a show rather than fight for spots and always feel bad about the smaller people behind me if we were in GA. Haylee (the lead singer of Paramore) reminds me of Vitamin C, solely because of the hair. Paramore had tons of energy and put on a really good show. Jimmy came on last and plowed through their set list. No room for talking really just song after song, that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it. This was my second or third time seeing Jimmy and I think this was their best one, they sounded very polished and it was just a fun concert. Check out more pictures here.

Mulan, Pizza, and GH3.

Friday night we hung out with Joe and Emily and their kids. It was good to get together with them and just hang out and see their brand new baby DUKE NEWMAN! We had a great time having pizza & watching the Jazz game. Then we watched Mulan, and then played Guitar Hero 3, it was good times. More pictures of the night here.
