The Jazz and I broke up on Friday night. It was abrupt, and unexpected. I wasn't looking forward to it, but I guess it had to be. This whole season I have pretty much based my nights off of when a Jazz game was on. Every other night or so I had plans with the TV to watch the Jazz game. But now it is over. The good news is I think we will be getting back together in November.
The last couple seasons I have found a renewed faith in the Utah Jazz. The beginning of this decade was dismal, and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel. The Jazz had some of their worst seasons ever, and weren't even playoff contenders. Throughout the decade and with draft picks and trades, the Jazz have become an incredible team to watch. The team they have right now is incredible. I couldn't say the same when Girichek was on the team, but ever since the Girichek/Korver trade, they have seen awesome success. Sadly that success ended it's run on Friday night, therefore ending my basketball season (somewhat). I'll still watch, and hope for a Lakers-Celtics series, but any emotion I had invested in the playoffs is gone. It was a great season for me. I watched many games at my parents house, with my father-in-law, with my friends, with Shara, or even by myself standing up and throwing things at the T.V. I was able to go to 4 games this season, with my brother-in-law, Shara, my mom and my father-in-law, many more games than I had previously anticipated. (Thanks again to anyone who hooked me up with tickets! Pretty much that goes to Meridian and Shara) It was a good season, but I'm really bummed its over.
Saturday May 10th was the 10th annual Ween-O-Rama. My buddies started doing this after we graduated high school to prolong the summer parties we had and was just another great excuse to get a big number of us together and roast hot dogs. It has since grown since it's humble beginnings to something looked forward to around this time of year and new traditions and events are held every year, while still holding true to the past events and traditions. This year introduced the hot dog eating contest, which no looking back on it, I don't know why we haven't done this sooner than now. Shara was asked to be a field reporter for this event and she was super great at it. She got all into it and asked the serious and awesome questions.
This is a great event that a lot of hard work is put into by my friends and it always turns out great and it's always good to see everyone that shows up.
A couple of Friday's ago Shara ended up working for ESPN. It was an awesome opportunity for her and she was able to work closely with a producer and a reporter and get to see a lot of the behind the scenes of an ESPN broadcast. This also benefited ME! She was hooked up with two tickets to Game 6 versus Houston. It was an awesome game! My father-in-law Wayne went along with me. He was really excited, so excited that we ended up arriving at Energy Solutions Arena 75 minutes before tip-off! I have pictures to prove it. Shara was able to take me behind the scenes as well during half time, and we were able to see how ESPN broadcasts a game. It's incredible all the equipment and personnel that is involved to broadcast a nationally televised game. Very cool. Thanks again to her and to the ESPN producer who hooked us up with tickets!
